Oakland Museum of CA
dance anywhere® at OMCA
Join OMCA for its fourth year hosting dance anywhere®, a simultaneous worldwide public art performance. On Friday, March 28 at 12 noon in California, 3 pm in New York, and 9 pm in Rome and Paris, people of all ages and artistic capacities will dance in parks, museums, street corners, schools, work places, community centers, offices, and just about anywhere you can imagine. Participants include professional dancers and artists, plumbers, doctors, soccer players, teachers and politicians, and YOU! Some dances are choreographed, some are improvised, and many stretch the definition of what dance is. Everyone is invited no matter age or ability.
This year, the Museum will be featuring Dandelion Dancetheater in a guitar-accompanied performance in the Blue Oak café with the theme of ‘life and death.’ Dandelion Dancetheater features emotionally-driven dance, collided with experimental theater, video, writing, music and image, grounded in a fascination with the intersections of risk-taking and accessibility, inviting people to feel, remember, reflect and transform.
