Project Thrust / Malinda LaVelle

Check out this great video by Project Thrust for 2011’s dance anywhere® at Togonon Gallery in San Francisco!

“Project Thrust dancers Carson Stein and Joy Prendergast performed a structured improvised duet at the Togonon Gallery in San Francisco based off of the company’s current work in progress, “Project Bust.” For the past year, Project Thrust has investigated the female psyche with eight women in their twenties. From catty stereotypes to cliches regarding sex appeal and the need to succeed, we have extracted many hilarious and unsettling truths about being young and female. The final culmination of “Project Bust,” a two part evening length work, will be presented in July and August 2011 by the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance at Z Space Theater Artaud.”

Malinda LaVelle speaks of her thoughts on dance anywhere®,

“dance anywhere® is refreshing.  It is becoming more and more important to collect ideas outside of the controlled environment of the studio.  There is a great sense of power and substance knowing that people all over the globe are doing just that at the exact same time. “
