“What if there was a public celebration of dance everywhere, around the world, simultaneously? What if, in one moment, the whole world started dancing?”
Since 2005, when artist Beth Fein asked these questions, thousands of people on seven continents, sixty-six countries and 714 cities have answered.
In celebration of Dance Anywhere, BAMPFA hosts AXIS Dance Company in a fifteen-minute performance that responds to the dramatic interior of the new BAMPFA.
Oakland-based AXIS is one of the world’s most acclaimed and innovative ensembles of performers with and without disabilities. Aspiring to change the face of dance and disability, AXIS has collaborated with leading contemporary choreographers and composers, and has toured nationwide as well as internationally.
