Shake your groove thing with kids and mamas who love to dance to celebrate dance anywhere! At noon, we'll shimmy on the sidewalk and invite passersby to join in. After we've danced a bit, we'll head to Franklin Park for picnicking and playing. It will be a warmup for One Dance!

In celebration of dance anywhere, a worldwide simultaneous dance celebration on Friday, March 22, a little group of us gathered on our city's main street to invite passersby to dance with us. We met outside our local favorite Mexican restaurant because the infectious rhythms coming from their outdoor speakers always seem to us to be an invitation to move. We hope our fellow Alamedans will remember our celebratory shimmying and our kid-made sign-shaking and fill that public space with dance next time they're there.
